Selected Student and Alumni Awards and Honors

Amanda Judd (2021) won first place in poetry in the 2020 Patsy Lea Core Award competition.

Travis Hendershot (2021) won third place in both poetry and fiction in the 2020 Patsy Lea Core Award competition.

Lukas Hall (2013) is the author of the poetry collection loudest when startled, published in 2020 by YesYes Books

Jessica Zick (2019) won the inaugural Normandale Alumni Catalyst Award, which enabled her to attend the Juniper Summer Writer’s Workshop in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Grace Anderson (2018) won the 2018 AWP Intro Journals Award for her poem, “Bitsui”, which appeared in Puerto Del Sol.

Paul Van Dyke (2018) is the author of the fiction chapbook A Thousand Sunsets, published by Red Bird Chapbooks. He also attended Juniper Summer Writer’s Workshop in Amherst, Massachusetts, and the Post-Graduate Writer’s Conference at Vermont College of Fine Arts. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop.

Sarah Guinee, (2014), was a finalist in the 2013 Hollins University Literary Festival Fiction Competition.

Isaac Faleschini (2013) won a scholarship to attend the Juniper Summer Writing Institute in June of 2013; he also won a writing scholarship to enroll in Hamline University’s BFA in Creative Writing Program.

Kyle Adamson (2011) won the 2010 AWP Intro Journals Award for his poem “Debriefing”, which appeared in The Artful Dodge.
